Brandi Lai

Administrative Assistant

Brandi Lai is an administrative assistant at PYP. She is also a writer, ghostwriter, and developmental editor, and the author of The Real Lives of Transgender and Nonbinary Humans, a short story anthology.

Brandi holds a bachelor’s degree in Women and Gender Studies from the University of South Florida. She is an openly trans woman who transitioned while she was in college. An empathetic storyteller, she realized the impact of her writing and how by living authentically, she could help other people live their authentic lives too. Her mission is to do what she can to uplift the voices of marginalized people and others in her community through her work and help create change. In her senior year of college, she wrote about the reasons for gender policing within the trans community and presented her research paper to The Southeastern Women’s Studies Association conference (SEWSA). She was also a writer for “Her Campus” at USF.

Brandi lives in Florida. She comes from a family of tennis players, and has played golf and tennis since middle school. She is an avid video game player and enjoys Magic the Gathering, a complex, collectible card game. Her superpower is the ability to listen and encourage people to open up and be authentic with their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Her passion for writing inspires others to share their stories and experiences with the world.
