A Q&A with the Publish Your Purpose Team

1. How did you come to work with PYP?

I founded Publish Your Purpose when I realized that I can have a bigger impact on the world by helping more people share their inspiring stories. We specialize in helping non-fiction authors publish their books in a high-quality way.

2. What do you enjoy the most about your work?

I love helping an author expand their vision beyond their wildest dreams! My favorite days are when I am brainstorming with an author on how they can change the world through the publication of their book.

3. What are your favorite books or genre?

I love memoirs written by female comedians. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are neck-in-neck for my favorite. Also, Running Like a Girl by Alexandra Heminsley is a gem!

4. How do you spend your free time?

I spend a lot of time reading non-fiction books or listening to the above mentioned memoirs on Audible. When not reading I’m outdoors doing something active (running, kayaking, playing basketball with my family, etc.)

5. If you could have dinner with anyone, past or present, who would it be?

I would enjoy meeting Charlotte Perkins Gilman. She’s the author of the short story The Yellow Wallpaper, which was released in 1892. This has somehow remained a favorite story of mine and I would love the opportunity to have dinner with her.

6. What is one thing very few people know about you?

Perhaps that I am a super dork? (This may be more public knowledge at this point.) I enjoy learning about anything and everything that does not seem to interest any of my friends around me.

7. How would you define your purpose?

I feel like I was called to be a catalyst to other people’s messages, stories and missions. I have learned that I need to use my loud outspoken ways to impact the lives of those I know and more importantly, don’t know.

Bonus question: What is the wildest publishing-related question you are asked?

Due to my extensive background previously working in the LGBTQ space, I am often asked if we work with straight people too. And I always answer, “Of course we do!” We work with all types of authors who are fulfilling their individual mission of being purpose-driven, mission-driven and impact-driven. ALL are welcome in the PYP family!
